How its work?
1. Solar Plant Capacity Formula
This helps you decide if a customer needs a 3kW, 5kW, or 10kW system.
Step A: Daily Units Needed
Step B: System Size Calculation
In India (specifically Tamil Nadu), 1kW of solar typically generates 4 to 5 units per day
Example: If a customer uses 450 units a month:
Daily usage: 450 / 30 = 15 units$
System size: 15 / 4.5 = 3.33 kW$ (Recommend a 3kW or 4kW system)
2. Solar Panel Quantity Formula
Once you have the kW size, calculate the number of panels based on their wattage (e.g., 550Wp Bi-facial panels).
Example: For a 3kW system using 550W panels:
(3 * 1000) / 550 = 5.45 (Use 6 panels)
3. Battery Backup Time Formula
Essential for your Hybrid Inverter customers at RS ELECTRIC.
(Note: Use 0.8 for lead-acid efficiency or 0.95 for Lithium-ion)
Example: A 150Ah/12V battery running a 300W load (fans/lights):
$(150 * 12 * 0.8) / 300 = 4.8 Hours$
4. Roof Space Requirement
A critical “fact check” before you sign a contract.
-
Standard Rule: 1kW of solar requires approx 80 – 100 sq. ft. of shadow-free area.
-
Formula: Total Area Needed = SystemSize (kW) * 100 sq. ft.$
Quick Reference Table for your Clients
| Monthly EB Units | Recommended System | Approx. Cost (Pre-Subsidy) | Roof Space Needed |
| 150 – 200 | 1.5 kW | ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,20,000 | 150 sq. ft. |
| 300 – 450 | 3 kW | ₹1,80,000 – ₹2,10,000 | 300 sq. ft. |
| 600 – 800 | 5 kW | ₹3,00,000 – ₹3,50,000 | 500 sq. ft. |
